Enter The Gungeon review

Enter The Gungeon is the true definition of bullet hell: the enemies are bullets, the currency is bullets, and even your health bar looks like it’s made out of bullets. Is this game just a small gag or a truly great twin-stick shooter?

GAMEPLAY

Enter The Gungeon’s gameplay is a pretty basic roguelike twin-stick shooter, but the fun comes in the collectible items & guns; they are weird, from regular guns like a shotgun and AK47 to weird guns like a gun that shoots letters spelling “bullet.” Each gun provides a different gameplay style; some do drastically different things than others. The enemy design is also great, having many enemies instead of your classic shoot-at-you type. You get fast-firing guys, shotgun guys, and in later levels, each enemy seems to shoot a crazy amount of bullets, which is why there is a dodge roll. Simple at the start, the dodge roll becomes the most important move to use because it gives you a way to use your invulnerability frames to dodge through the bullets.

VISUALS

the cool pixel art style means the funny guns, items, and characters really shine. the enemies and players look great, and even though the game is chaotic, it never gets hard to see what’s happening. while the game could use a lot more juice, it’s still great art.

AUDIO

the sound FX really need work; they don’t sound weird enough to fit the other parts of this crazy game. but the music is a banger with some great tracks; however, the sound FX need work.

FINAL VERDICT

Enter The Gungeon is a game with great gameplay and music though it falls short on the juice it still is a really great game

SCORE 8/10
